Why Recall Rosenberg?
Pacifica treasurer Tracy Rosenberg has been the principal defender of the current management at Pacifica, the corporation that owns KPFA. With Rosenberg’s support, and at her behest, Pacifica has:
- purged KPFA’s biggest fundraiser and most listened-to local program (The Morning Show), causing morning pledges to drop by more than half and putting the station’s finances at risk
- installed new “interim” managers at KPFA with no input from KPFA’s listeners or staff (Pacifica acted at Rosenberg’s urging), and then, in violation of Pacifica’s bylaws, refused to hire from a pool of manager candidates interviewed and approved by KPFA’s elected Local Station Board
- wasted more than $115,000 of listener money on anti-union law firms to fight KPFA’s workers, and signed a general retainer with Jackson Lewis, which the AFL-CIO calls “America’s number one union-buster” (with Rosenberg’s support)
- bounced paychecks and diverted workers’ own contributions to their retirement accounts (on Rosenberg’s watch as Pacifica’s treasurer)
- slapped gag rules on KPFA’s staff
- denied KPFA’s elected representatives from taking their seats on Pacifica’s National Board (based on a proposal by Rosenberg), then continued to deny them seats in violation of a California Superior Court injunction
